Single Stage Tensioners
Hydraulic tensioning is the ideal method for tightening bolted connections. Hydraulic tensioning eliminates inaccuracies and helps achieve correct bolt loading in critical connections. At HTI, we’ve been building hydraulic tensioners and nuts since 1986.
Single-stage tensioners are ideal for applications that are vertically limited. They provide a large amount of stroke in a vertically compact package.
HTI provides a wide variety of single-stage tensioners in both fixed models used with a specific stud size, and variable models that work with a variety of stud sizes.
HTI single-stage tensioners can be standard or spring returns and are available in standard sizes (up to 4" / M100) and in lerger sizes (up to 17" M425).

Fixed Model Tensioners Model 1973 M72 & M120 Tensioners
If one of our standard catalog models doesn’t work, we can design a custom tensioner for any fastening application. Some varieties of single stage tensioners are:
- Fixed (made for a specific stud and nut size)
- Variable (able to accommodate a number of different stud and nut sizes)
- Large stud (for applications with studs over 6” in diameter)
- High load and stroke (for applications requiring high bolt loading or an extra long stroke)

HTI has been designing engineered solutions to your toughest bolt tensioning problems since 1986! You can choose from one of our standard catalog sizes above, or we can design a custom fixed tensioner for any application when a standard model won’t work. HTI tensioners can be designed for imperial or metric-sized studs, high loads, high temperatures, large stud sizes or corrosive environments. Our multi-unit tensioning systems can make easy work of large bolted systems, and our automated tensioning systems can reduce labor and increase throughput in high-volume manufacturing applications.
